Should I limit my 18 month old naps?
At this age little ones are often on one nap a day. Ideally this will be for around 2.5 hours and will continue to be until nearer 2 years old.
If you feel like naps are starting to have an impact on bedtime or night time sleep I would look at the the timing of the nap first, before thinking about dropping the nap.
Often timing can be key, as much as getting the right amount, it needs to be at the right time.
Too much sleep too late in the day can cause havoc with settling at bedtime. So ideally I would aim for the nap to start at 12/12.30pm at the latest. This will then give a nice wake window after nap time for enough sleep pressure to build up for a bedtime with the battle.
